Watch it think. Follow its plan.
Thinking streams live, multi-step work gets a plan card, and every tool call opens to show exactly what ran.
Free · Open source · macOS 14+
OpenNotch turns it into an AI assistant that actually does things, with 14 tools, hands-free voice and MCP connectors. Anything risky waits for your OK, and your data stays on your Mac.
That's Bee — live 3D, the app's own code. Poke her. Throw her.
See the whole thing in 48 seconds.
Every MacBook has a notch. Most of them just sit there. Yours could plan your day, keep your clipboard, play your music, guard your data — and wave hello.

The assistant
Forty-plus built-in tools — files, shell, web, Mail, Notes, calendar, reminders, contacts, weather — driven by whichever AI you choose.

Commands, file edits, calendar changes and connector tools ask first. No answer in five minutes means no.
Sounds great — see you at 3.
It writes the reply in Mail and leaves it there. Sending is always your move.
“Every weekday at 9, brief me.” It runs while you work and reports in the notch.

Pipe anything into the notch with the opennotch CLI.
Hands-free mode
Talk, hear the answer and interrupt any time. It even asks for approvals out loud — just say “yes” or “no”. Speech recognition runs on your Mac.
Connectors
GitHub, Slack, Notion, a browser — any Model Context Protocol server becomes part of the assistant. Connector tools still ask before they act.

"github": { "command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-github"],

} }

Weather uses Open-Meteo, and web fetches happen only when you ask for them.
Bring your own brain
Meet Puff
Its eyes follow your cursor. Poke it and it gets grumpy. Poke it three times and it goes dizzy. Stroke it and hearts float up. It hops when a task finishes and peeks out now and then to say hi.
Go on — poke it, poke it three times, or wiggle your cursor over it.
Desktop companions
Bee (or Ledge, or Cat) jumps out of the notch on first launch, walks on your windows, dances to your music and points at the notch when the assistant needs your OK.
Click to poke · wiggle your cursor over it to pet · drag to pick it up and throw.
